Gastelum (11-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC), who more than one year ago lost to Woodley (15-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) by split decision, said the No. 1 contender hasn’t cleared enough hurdles to warrant his status, even though he was a little hazy on his former opponent’s resume. “I think he needs to beat somebody like Rory MacDonald or somebody like Demian Maia ,” he said backstage at this past Saturday’s UFC 199.
