Edgar (21-5-1 MMA, 15-5-1 UFC) battled Jeremy Stephens (25-13 MMA, 12-12 UFC) on the FS1-televised prelims for the event, which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York. In the second round, Stephens tagged Edgar with a head kick, which sent the former lightweight champion to the canvas. A follow-up knee from Stephens looked to be illegal , but Edgar said he has no clue if it was. After all, he barely knew it was a head kick that rocked him.
