Maia (25-6 MMA, 19-6 UFC), who once fought Anderson Silva for the middleweight title, now will fight welterweight champ Tyron Woodley for a UFC belt after a split-decision win over Jorge Masvidal (32-12 MMA, 9-5 UFC) in what wound up being a title eliminator. Maia’s jiu-jitsu control was too much for Masvidal, even though the Brazilian wasn’t able to get the finish
