MACAU – Colby Covington was given three rounds to show his skills in his UFC debut, but he only needed one. Against Wang Anying , Covington (6-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) transitioned seamlessly from takedowns to ground-and-pound, brutalizing Anying (2-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the mat until he tapped to strikes just as referee Leon Roberts seemed ready to halt the bout, bringing an end at the 4:50 mark of Round 1. The welterweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 48 event at The Venetian Macao’s CotaiArena in Macau.
