Whittaker (14-4 MMA, 5-2 UFC) was facing a big test in Tavares (13-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC), a man who entered the bout ranked in the top 15 of the official UFC rankings. But he rose to the occasion, blistering Tavares with shots on the feet before dropping him to the canvas and following up with punches that put him out cold.
