NASHVILLE – Frankie Saenz used pace and pressure to narrowly outpoint Sirwan Kakai in a fight that remained close from the first minute until the final second. In the end, it was enough to earn Saenz (11-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) the split-decision victory over Kakai (12-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) with scores of 29-28, 27-30, 30-27. The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 73 event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. It aired on FOX Sports 2 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. Though he won on two of the three judges’ scorecards, it was by no means an easy night of work for Saenz. Kakai used sharp striking and some tricky foot sweeps to put him on the defensive early, at times turning the tables on the fighter known for grinding out decisions
