With that said, he’s aware that more prestigious welterweight fights can’t hurt as far as keeping his buzz among UFC fans. That’s why he and his team were “a little disappointed” when Thiago Alves (21-10 MMA, 13-7 UFC) was scratched from Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 79 and replaced by Jorge Masvidal (29-9 MMA, 6-2 UFC). Alves, a onetime welterweight title challenger, was the latest UFC headliner to suffer an injury and be removed from the card. The promotion recruited a replacement in Masvidal, who was pulled from a scheduled fight with Dong Hyun Kim
