PITTSBURGH – Tatsuya Kawajiri wanted to turn his fight with Dennis Bermudez into a grappling match early on. He got his wish, but not the way he wanted to, with Bermudez (15-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) turning the tables on the mat and battering Kawajiri (35-9-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) down the stretch to earn a unanimous decision victory with scores of 29-28 across the board. The featherweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 83 event at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Bermudez came out looking to stand and trade with Kawajiri, but he soon found himself fending off takedown attempts that slowed the pace of the fight and turned it into a slow battle for position. To his credit, Bermudez adapted well after some struggles in the first round
