PITTSBURGH – By Round 3 of his bout with Shamil Abdurakhimov , Anthony Hamilton ’s coaches were imploring him to put his chin down and let his hands go. Problem was, almost every time Hamilton (14-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) did that, he got caught with a stinging uppercut or straight right hand from Abdurakhimov (16-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC), whose counters secured him a solid if unspectacular decision. The heavyweight bout opened the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 83 event at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass ahead of additional prelims and a main card on FOX Sports 1. The final scorecards were 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 in favor of Abdurakhimov, who picked up his first UFC win after a first-round TKO loss in April against Timothy Johnson.
