OTTAWA, Canada – Jason Saggo didn’t win it by much, but he managed to outpoint Leandro Silva by the slimmest of margins to get the victory in front of his countrymen. After a very close fight that saw both men stuck on their backs at various points, Saggo (12-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) got the nod from two of the three judges, edging out Silva (19-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) via split-decision. The lightweight bout closed out the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 89 event at The Arena at TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It aired on FOX Sports 2 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. Saggo got off to a good start in the first round, using an early takedown to get Silva to the mat and then keeping him there for almost the entire round as he worked sparingly, but consistently from half-guard.
