The lightweight bout was part of the main card of the UFC Fight Night 98 event at Mexico City Arena in Mexico City. It aired on FS1 following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. By the time Magomedov found his rhythm, it was too late for him to catch up and Dariush edged out the decision. The official scorecards read 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28, all for Dariush, snapping Magomedov’s six-year unbeaten streak.
