Just hours away from the event, veteran Rani Yahya announced that his co-main event against Kyung Ho Kang has been canceled after he tested positive for COVID-19. Promotion officials also announced that Jared Gooden vs. Niklas Stolze also was canceled, dropping the lineup to nine fights total. When the week began, UFC on ESPN 28 had 15 bouts scheduled
