CHICAGO – Eddie Wineland ’s return to the cage for the first time in over a year did not go his way, as Bryan Caraway outworked him for a unanimous decision win at UFC on FOX 16. The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC on FOX 16 event at United Center in Chicago. It aired on FOX following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of the main card on FOX. Wineland (21-11-1 MMA, 3-5 UFC) was throwing a nasty glare at Caraway (20-7 MMA, 5-2 UFC) from the time he made his walk to the cage and declined a glove touch to start the fight. Caraway pushed in for a takedown only to have Wineland quickly work back to his feet while absorbing some punches. Wineland fought in his usual style on the feet, bouncing from side to side and looking for opportunities to whip looping punches to Caraway’s face.
