In her sixth week of Season 22 of “Dancing with the Stars,” UFC strawweight Paige VanZant set a new personal best, baby … yeahhhhhh. Doing a jazz routine on “Famous Dances Night” set to the opening theme from the “Austin Powers” film franchise – “Soul Bossa Nova” by Quincy Jones – VanZant and pro partner Mark Ballas set a new personal best with a 28/30, including VanZant’s first 10 – which came from the stingiest of the three judges, Len Goodman. VanZant and Ballas were back together after “America’s Switch-up” week, which saw VanZant with a temporary one-week partner in Sasha Farber, whose normal partner is actress Kim Shields. And despite some problems early in the week, when a licensing issue took the song Ballas had been preparing choreography to away from them, they pushed on and made the best of it with their best performance yet. The score put VanZant into second place overall with 147 points, just two points behind Boyz II Men singer Wanya Morris and pro partner Lindsay Arnold. Right behind VanZant is deaf model Nyle DiMarco with 146 points, giving the competition a fairly clear distinction in the top three after six weeks.
