Vicente Luque expects to be well groomed by the time he reaches a fight for the UFC welterweight title, and he hopes Kamaru Usman is still the man when that time arrives. Luque (20-7-1 MMA, 13-3 UFC) took another promising step forward in his career at UFC 260 in March when he submitted former UFC champ Tyron Woodley in the first round of a “Fight of the Night” bout . He’s now won nine of his past 10 and intends to remain patient until another significant fight comes around that will elevate him further into title contention. Usman (18-1 MMA, 13-0 UFC), meanwhile, continues to hold an iron fist on the 170-pound weight class and is next scheduled to defend in a rematch with Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261 on April 24. He’s favored to win the fight and remain the top dog, and Luque said he expects it to stay that way. After beating Woodley in his most recent outing, Luque sees matchups ahead that will ready him well for Usman.
