Contrary to the recent trend of hunting for a UFC title in a second division, Leon Edwards wants to do the traditional thing. Edwards recorded his second title defense by defeating Colby Covington in a ho-hum unanimous decision at UFC 296. It was his second appearance of 2023, following his first title defense in a rematch against Kamaru Usman in March at UFC 286. By now, some of the other UFC champions would have been calling for opportunities for a title fight in another division to achieve champ-champ status, but not Edwards.
