So how exactly did Gilbert Melendez ‘s contracts talks with the UFC and Bellator MMA play out? The veteran fighter, who will soon coach “The Ultimate Fighter 20″ and then meet UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, discusses the timeline. When his UFC future seemed bleak, Melendez (22-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Bellator agreed to a multi-fight deal , and “El Nino” appeared on his way to the UFC’s primary competitor. Check out the above video as our partners at Shoot Media catch up with Melendez, who discusses the negotiations and how he nearly ended up in Bellator.
