But that rematch, though quickly promised, is on hold – and Rousey rival Miesha Tate (17-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) will be the first to challenge Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) for her new belt. Today at an on-sale news conference for UFC 197, where Holm meets Tate in the co-main event on March 5 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the champion said she was fine doing a rematch, but now that the Tate fight is a reality, it’s far from her mind. “I was open to a rematch with Ronda,” Holm said. “I just wanted whatever opportunity was going to come. I think this is definitely even more of a challenging way to go.
