UFC president Dana White isn’t overly optimistic about Nate Diaz returning to the octagon this year, but does that mean it definitely won’t happen? Diaz took all of 2020 off after competing twice in 2019, with his most recent bout 14 months ago when he lost to Jorge Masvidal . It was a disappointing conclusion to the UFC 244 “BMF” title fight, with the cageside doctor stopping it after Round 3 because of a cut over Diaz’s eye. Emotions were high afterward , and a relatively quick return – and possibly a rematch – seemed like it might happen, but nothing ever came to fruition.
