This was especially true following featherweight champion  Jose Aldo’s injury withdrawal from his massively anticipated title fight against Conor McGregor. Instead of a disappointment, on July 11 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, fans were treated to one of the most incredible nights in UFC history. The pay-per-view main card featured five stoppages in five fights, flying-knee knockouts, welterweight champion Robbie Lawler (26-10 MMA, 11-4 UFC) successfully retaining the title  with a victory over gritty Rory MacDonald (18-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC), and McGregor (18-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) capturing interim gold in a true test against Chad Mendes (17-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC)
