Justin Gaethje is putting himself through the ringer ahead of UFC 274. Gaethje (23-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) challenges UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira (32-8 MMA, 20-8 UFC) on May 7 for his second shot at gold. In preparation for Oliveira’s elite grappling, Gaethje spent some rounds training with welterweight champion and fellow standout wrestler Kamaru Usman , as well as third-degree jiu-jitsu blackbelt Alexandre Almeida. After falling short in his quest for gold against then champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2020, Gaethje outlasted Michael Chandler in the “Fight of the Year” at UFC 268. Oliveira, on the other hand, continues to defy the oddsmakers.
