The problem with his first fight at 170, though, was that against Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 148, he didn’t get to really show anything since Kim suffered an injury so quickly into the bout. But in his second outing at welterweight, just three months later, he put on a show. And even better, that show came in front of his home fans in Brazil – six years after he last had a chance to fight in his home country. After nine straight fights without a submission, jiu-jitsu standout Maia took out Rick Story with a first-round neck crank.
