His reward was a Stipe Miocic beatdown. Maldonado, who normally fights at light heavyweight, agreed to move up heavyweight when a Junior Dos Santos injury forced the former UFC heavyweight champ to withdraw from the contest. While most expected Maldonado to lose, it still seemed the iron-chinned Brazilian would at least take part in a toe-to-toe war before ultimately giving way to a larger opponent
