War Machine Jonathan Koppenhaver, aka “ War Machine ,” will face two counts of attempted murder when his case goes to trial in September, a judge ruled Wednesday. Koppenhaver’s defense attorney, Brandon Sua, argued the ex-UFC and Bellator MMA fighter did not intend to kill ex-girlfriend Christy Mackinday or her friend Corey Thomas when he allegedly broke into her Las Vegas home this past August and assaulted them. Las Vegas district judge Elissa Cadish said there was enough circumstantial evidence to show Koppnhaver’s intent and declined to drop the pair of attempted murder charges, which carry a possible sentence of life without parole.
