Stephen Thompson (13-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) proved his place among the welterweight elite with a dominant performance against Rory MacDonald (18-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC). MacDonald was never able to solve the riddle of Thompson’s striking, which led to a wide unanimous decision win for “Wonderboy.” In the welterweight co-main event, Donald Cerrone (30-7 MMA, 17-4 UFC) battered Patrick Cote (23-10 MMA, 10-10 UFC) en route to a third-round TKO . Also on the main card, Steve Bosse (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) outlasted Sean O’Connell (17-8 MMA, 2-4 UFC) to win a unanimous decision in a brutal light-heavyweight war . Olivier Aubin-Mercier (8-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) finished Thibault Gouti (11-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) with a third-round choke in their lightweight bout. And, Joanne Calderwood (11-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) looked outstanding in the first UFC women’s flyweight bout after stopping Valerie Letourneau (8-5 MMA, 3-2 UFC) with strikes in the third round
