MMA legalization in New York was a major moment for the sport, but few are as happy with the development as former UFC middleweight champion, and New York native, Chris Weidman . Weidman (12-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) is set to rematch Luke Rockhold (15-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC), the man who took the belt from him at UFC 194, at UFC 199, which takes place June 4 at The Forum in Los Angeles. Rockhold vs. Weidman headlines the pay-per-view main card following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. He’s waited a long time to be able to fight in his home state, and the opportunity to walk into an arena like Madison Square Garden with the belt around his waist has added a next level of motivation. “The division gets even stronger now,” Weidman said during a UFC media call.
