Even though  Derrick Mehmen is undefeated in WSOF, he admits he was taken off guard when the organization approached him to compete for its inaugural heavyweight title. Mehmen’s goal is to become one of the top fighters in the sport, but after an early 2012 slump with back-to-back losses, the 29-year-old wasn’t entirely confident he would be able to put his career back together. “I’m surprised to be fighting for the title,” Mehmen told MMAjunkie. “I don’t know if I expected to fight for a belt this soon, but I did know going into this contract it was kind of going to be the make or break of my career. “I went into this contract very confident and ready to perform.
