Some fighters believe that over-preparing for opponents’ strengths is the key to success, but World Series of Fighting welterweight champion Steve Carl isn’t one of them. Although Carl (21-3) faces arguably the best leglock artist to compete in MMA when he meets Rousimar Palhares (15-5) at Saturday’s WSOF 9 event, he told MMAjunkie Radio that he didn’t make submission defense a priority in training camp. “It’s not something I concentrated on the entire camp because that’s how he’s going to win, not how I’m going to win,” Carl said. WSOF 9 takes place at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas
