WSOF sets rules for eight-man tourney at WSOF 25

Luis Palomino The winner of an upcoming eight-man lightweight tournament could fight as many as 7 five-minute rounds, according to rules set by the WSOF in advance of the competition, which takes place at WSOF 25 at Comercia Theatre in Phoenix. But the winner also will be rewarded with a title shot against lightweight champ Justin Gaethje. “We are looking forward to a competitive night of tournament action after months of evaluating how we could make this the most exciting event possible and, at the same time, ensure the safety of our athletes and give each of them the best opportunity to prevail in the cage,” stated WSOF President Ray Sefo in a press release issued today. The WSOF announced the tournament in August and today released the official rules for the event.
