Thiago Santos nearly crossed paths with Israel Adesanya once before. The fight never materialized, but Santos hopes that changes in the future. Following Adesanya’s masterful middleweight title defense against Paulo Costa at UFC 253 this past weekend, Santos, the top-ranked light heavyweight contender, praised “The Last Stylebender” and expressed interest in a future showdown. In explaining the callout, Santos said his interest stems back to his alternate role for Adesanya’s fight with Brad Tavares at The Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale in July 2018.
