Filed under: Featured , News , UFC , Videos Conor McGregor coach John Kavanagh supports the UFC featherweight champ’s potential move to welterweight and thinks that’s where he might be headed with a win over lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos. In a column for Irish website The42.com , Kavanagh wrote he hasn’t ironed out any concrete plans with McGregor, but took note of heightened rumors of a welterweight title shot at UFC 200 and added, “after Conor wins the lightweight belt, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the next fight is for the welterweight belt.” Next up for McGregor (19-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) is a bid for the lightweight title at UFC 196, which takes place March 5 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The Irish champ hopes to become the only fighter to simultaneously hold UFC belts in two different weight classes against dos Anjos (25-7 MMA, 14-5 UFC), who’s beaten a laundry list of top lightweights. Kavanagh said in previous camps, McGregor has been focused on dropping weight
