Dave Hill was a creative person, someone who was attending a university to study graphic design. But he was also an athlete, as he had played rugby and soccer with success growing up the son of two educators. But it took a connection as he was working as a lifeguard for him to find his athletic career. It was while he was employed through Coventry University in Coventry, England. One of his supervisors studied kung fu, and Hill asked if he could get him some focus mitts for perhaps practicing some of his own fighting moves.
