Like many of his countrymen, Brazil’s Alberto Uda didn’t have an easy road to the UFC. But Uda’s story goes beyond the ones we’ve grown accustomed to hearing, which often include fighters working their way through financially trying upbringings in order to make it at the sport’s highest level. Uda’s start in the sport was something that may have kept most from ever competing. “Due to a motorcycle accident, I was bedridden for a long time,” Uda told MMAjunkie. “I decided to start training jiu-jitsu after that. Soon, I also took up muay Thai.
