And while the UFC lightweight champion is currently in final preparations for a UFC Fight Night 90 title defense against challenger Eddie Alvarez, dos Anjos is still fielding questions about his withdrawal from a planned UFC 196 main event against Conor McGregor – not to mention the UFC featherweight champion’s subsequent loss to Nate Diaz “I thought at first, McGregor would win. … Diaz, he didn’t have time to train at all” dos Anjos told MMAjunkie. “Diaz took those shots and did not crumble, and I know how durable he is because I hit him with some good shots, too … and McGregor gassed out.” Dos Anjos (25-7 MMA, 14-5 UFC), famously, was forced from a March 5 headlining fight at UFC 196 against McGregor (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) after breaking his foot just weeks before the contest. Now fully recovered, dos Anjos remains focused on Alvarez (27-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC), but he’s not above commenting on McGregor and his notorious collapse against Diaz, after the Irishman made some disparaging remarks regarding the legitimacy of his injury
