Thiago Santos appears to have felt disrespected when Aleksandar Rakic suggested he was an “easy win.” Santos (21-9 MMA, 13-8 UFC) met Rakic (14-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) in a pivotal light heavyweight clash at UFC 259 in March. Both men were jockeying for title contention status. In what was projected to be a barnburner between two of the division’s most prolific knockout artists, Rakic outpointed Santos in a rather lackluster affair. Rakic seemed unfazed with the criticism and recently angled for a title fight with light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz after he scored what he said was an “easy win” over Santos. Although Rakic seemed to control their fight, the overall stats were in favor of Santos – and “Marretta” made sure to remind him of that, which resulted in the pair trading barbs.
