John Maguire admits his UFC stint wasn’t the most impressive, but he’s turning things around with Cage Warriors. “It’s about performance, and that’s all it is,” he told MMAjunkie Radio in advance of his headliner opposite Saul Rogers (7-1) at Cage Warriors 65. Maguire’s early performances made him stand out in the octagon, where he stopped Justin Edwards and DaMarques Johnson. But he then dropped three straight and got his UFC pink slip, which lead him to a trio of realizations. One was that he was fighting at a disadvantage at welterweight, especially when he ran into grappling specialists who looked to grind him out on the mat.
