Maia (19-6 MMA, 13-6 UFC) controlled UFC newcomer Alexander Yakovlev (21-5-1, 0-1 UFC) on the ground, getting to full mount in each round on his way to an easy unanimous decision sweep – even though he never truly went after the submissions he’s best known for. The win came in front of his home city fans in Sao Paulo, Brazil, not far from where he grew up.
