In his first fight in nearly 11 months, former UFC title challenger Alexander Gustafsson successfully returned to the octagon to defeat Jan Blachowicz in today’s UFC Fight Night 93 co-main event. After dealing with some trouble on the feet, Gustafsson (17-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) reverted to a takedown-heavy game plan, outworking Blachowicz (19-6 MMA, 2-3 UFC) on the mat for a unanimous decision and his first victory in more than two years. It wasn’t the most exciting affair, but “The Mauler” rebounded from a two-fight losing skid and reasserted himself as a contender in the UFC’s light heavyweight division.
