NEWARK, N.J. – It wasn’t a popular decision – at least if you weren’t one of the cageside judges – but Alan Patrick (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) topped John Makdessi (12-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) at UFC 169. Their bout, which kicked concluded the FOX Sports 1-televised preliminary card from Newark, N.J.’s Prudential Center, provided a surprising result. Although nearly every major media outlet scored the fight for Makdessi, the judges unanimously awarded Patrick the decision. Check out the highlights above.
