RIO DE JANEIRO – Saturday night’s “UFC 179: Aldo vs. Mendes 2″ event drew an announced attendance of 11,415. UFC President Dana White formally announced the official figure at the evening’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie attended. The UFC does not typically reveal live gate figures for its Brazilian events. UFC 179 took place at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanazinho Gymnasium, marking the promotion’s first visit to the Brazilian venue. The evening’s five-fight main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims that aired on FOX Sports 1 and streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
