Filed under: Featured , News , UFC , Videos RIO DE JANEIRO – It took 25 minutes, and pretty much all he had, but  Jose Aldo still is champion after a Saturday night slugfest. Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) took a unanimous decision from  Chad Mendes (16-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC), taking four rounds to Mendes’ one from all three judges in the UFC 179 main event. Aldo retained his featherweight title in the fight, a rematch with Mendes from his win at UFC 142. But the fight may have been closer than the scores would otherwise indicate, as Mendes came forward throughout the fight and landed some heavy punches on the champion, several times knocking him backward and off his feet.
