The victory provided flashbacks to Boetsch’s (18-7 MMA, 9-6 UFC) UFC 144 win over Yushin Okami due to the fact he stormed back from a rough first round to stop Tavares (12-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) with strikes in the second stanza. It was arguably the most resonating performance on the card, as the Maine native sent fans into a frenzy with the gutsy effort, handing Tavares his second consecutive defeat.
