Filed under: Featured Videos , News , UFC , Videos ZAGREB, Croatia – UFC featherweight Robert Whiteford left the octagon with a gash on his forehead, a broken nose, fractured orbital, and, as he puts it, and ear almost torn off his head. So, in other words, not exactly a good night at work. “I don’t think I’ve fought anybody harder than him,” Whiteford (12-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) told MMAjunkie when talking about a losing decision to Darren Elkins at UFC Fight Night 76. “Every time I got back to my feet, I thought one more shot, and I’ll put him to sleep, but it didn’t work out that way, and sometimes that’s the way the cookie crumbles.” That’s why the Scottish fighter is looking forward to his next outing, which comes Sunday against Brazilian Lucas Martins (15-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) on the UFC Fight Pass-streamed prelims of UFC Fight Night 86, which takes place at Zagreb Arena in Zagreb, Croatia. Not only does Whiteford feel better prepared to fight, having trained at the world-famous American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Fla., but he feels the matchup he’s got lends itself to a fight fans want to see. That translates to bigger interest, and hopefully with a win, bigger fights.
