LAS VEGAS – He didn’t do it by much, but after three close rounds with Mehdi Baghdad , John Makdessi emerged a winner by the slimmest of margins. Despite being hurt by strikes late in the fight, Makdessi (14-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) rebounded to beat a game Baghdad (11-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) via split-decision, earning scores of 28-29, 29-28, and 29-28. The lightweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 90 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas
