Phil “CM Punk” Brooks (This story appears in today’s edition of  USA TODAY .) LAS VEGAS – Phil Brooks, the UFC’s hottest new signee, is 36, has no MMA bouts to his credit, and is best known by a stage name – “ CM Punk ” – that he used while working as a professional wrestler. As UFC President Dana White told USA TODAY Sports and MMAjunkie shortly after the organization announced the signing during this past Saturday’s UFC 181 event in Las Vegas, the UFC isn’t sure what Brooks is capable of, “but we’re giving him the opportunity.” “He can either fight or he can’t,” White added. Then again, the same could be said about absolutely anybody. It normally isn’t considered qualification enough to earn someone a shot in the world’s top MMA promotion.
