LAS VEGAS – Few combat sports competitors have made better use of the entire planet’s fight resources than Valentina Shevchenko . The UFC flyweight champion was born in the Central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan and lives in Peru. For her upcoming title defense against Jessica Eye at UFC 238, she’s trained in Russia, Thailand, and at the UFC Performance Institute before she heads out to Chicago for the fight. In a recent chat at the UFC PI with reporters, including MMA Junkie, Shevchenko explained that her globetrotting ways make her, as well as her sister Antonina and their team, more complete fighters and better people.
