DALLAS – Alex Garcia  (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) was a top prospect and a major favorite heading into a surprisingly competitive UFC 171 bout with lightweight Sean Spencer (11-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC). Despite his troubles, Garcia admits it was a good learning experience. Garcia survived some second-round blows to hang on for a split-decision victory in Saturday’s FOX Sports 2-televised preliminary-card bout at Dallas’ American Airlines Center. “It was really intense, but it was good for me,” Garcia said. “I [gained experience], and I proved to myself I can go three rounds or however many rounds I need to go.” Check out the full conversation, in which Garcia discusses the fighters’ slugfest, above.
