That was the veteran fighter’s message during an April 19 TED Talks event, “TEDxUChicago 2014: Make No Little Plans,” in Chicago. Franklin, a fan favorite who held the UFC belt from 2005-2006, gave a brutally honest speech entitled “How to Be a Loser.” Drawing from his pro-fighting career, Franklin discussed how folks from all walks of life can handle losses in a productive manner. During the speech, Franklin made a surprising revelation about his first fight with Anderson Silva , who ultimately took “Ace’s” title and then defended it in their rematch. “I was fighting in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas,” he said.
