Wanderlei Silva initiates Nevada Supreme Court appeal

Wanderlei Silva Retired UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva today initiated an appeal with the Nevada Supreme Court to rule on whether the Nevada State Athletic Commission overstepped its bounds by imposing a lifetime ban early in 2014. “This case requires the court to vindicate a basic proposition: an agency cannot expand its jurisdiction and take disciplinary action against someone it does not license,” wrote Silva lawyer Ross Goodman in a brief obtained by MMAjunkie. The NSAC banned Silva, 39, for evading a drug test in connection with a scheduled fight against Chael Sonnen at UFC 175
